Radiating Lines

I have decided to add a fortnightly ATC Online Swap on the alternate week to the Celtic Challenge. 

Trading Card Size

An Artist Trading Card is 2.5" x 3.5" or 64mm x 89mm.

I was involved in a ATC Swap recently and although I enjoyed getting everyones lovely artwork it cost me $45 to send out the ATC's to the people involved. Being on a pension, I cannot afford that on a regular basis, but would love to be involved in swapping. 

How to swap.

I propose to set up the opportunity for people to email their finished work to me. I will post it onto my blog so that others can admire it, and copy it, if they wish. Do not send anything if you are not prepared for others to copy and paste to their computer to print out for themselves.

How to copy and save an image from this site.
A. Copy
1. To copy to Pictures, Word, or Publisher, right click on the image.
2. Click Copy image.
3. Open your chosen destination.
4. Right click mouse and choose paste.
5. Save or print the picture. 

B. Save image as
1. Right Click on image.
2. Choose Save image as
3. Click on Picture on the left side of screen to open.
4. Choose a folder if you want to and open it.
5. Enter a File name or accept the default one
6. Choose a Save as type or accept the default one.
7. Click save.

Name you ATC's

Please ensure you put your name in the email so that other will know who did the artwork. You can also put where in the world you are from as an added interest if you wish.

Format
Please send your design in jpeg or png format as I am no expert is using different formats and find these easy to upload to blogger.

The theme of this ATC Swap will be 'Radiating Lines'.

Draw lines radiating out from any point on the card you wish, and then decorate. You can do it in one or multiple colours.

You can use my outline and decorate it differently or come up with your own 'radiating line' design to send.

Celtic Challenge 29

This week I have been looking at the space I need to put a pattern into and designing shapes to fit that space. My Challenge to you this week is to come up with at least one of your own patterns or shapes to fit a space in this Celtic Mandala.

An easy way to fit the space is to follow the contour of that space as I have done in the finished design below. 

My patterns I used here are:

Full Flower

Hilly

The other pattern I used here is that one with the little hearts and the contour lines around them. I have seen it somewhere but do not know the name. It is a lovely pattern and I use it often.

All the other fill in designs are ones I made up following the contour of each shape.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. Please post the results below so we can all enjoy them.

Hi All, I hope you had a great fortnight. Faith commented on my last challenge and gave us a very interesting idea to create a circular design using Cut Paper. I have used her idea to create this fortnights design. Thank you Faith.

My Challenge to you this fortnight is to decorate this design using only two colours. I used Red and Black in the design below.

A little bit of colour and design theory to help you create interest.

I used a contrast of solid colour and delicate patterns.

I used three sizes in pens to create different thicknesses of line.

I used shading to create depth.

I used lines going in different directions to create movement.

Because of the above some features in the design stand out more than others.

 All these things combined create a lot of interesting things to look at in a very small pattern. 

My Pattern I used is:
Rolling In - a variation

The other pattern I used:
A spiral repeated in various sizes. I have seen this often and am not sure if someone has claimed it as their design. If so let me know and I am happy to give them credit.

MORE TRADING CARDS

Thank You Ladies

As I stated in an earlier post I have been involved in a trading card swap. It is a doodling/zentangles swap and in black and white.

Here are some more of the cards I received from around the world.

  

Some of the ladies decorated their envelopes as well, and some sent extra little treats inside like lovely cards to protect the trading cards.

It has been a fun swap and I can't wait to get the rest of them to show you.

Hi all, hope you had a great fortnight. There were some interesting entries in the last challenge. 

Cora Lee commented on the last post that she did not have a printer and how could she draw it. At present I do not have time to issue drawing instructions with each challenge. 

My suggestion to Cora Lee and others in the same position is to copy my outline and email it to a friend who has a printer, so they can print it for you. In Australia some copy business will print items you email to them for you also. If anyone else has any ideas, could they please put it in the comments for others to see.

Below is your challenge for this week. I am asking those who have never done it before to come up with one of their own patterns to decorate part of the design. If you could name your pattern and draw up the steps that would be great also. Good luck.

Celtic Challenge 26

CELTIC CHALLENGE 26

Hi all, due to the increasing demands on my time to care for my sick husband, I am finding it a challenge to post on time. If I do not get it done on Friday it may be Saturday or Sunday before it is posted. I hope you don't mind but I do not have any other options here.

I am changing the challenges also. I will be doing a series of Celtic Mandalas for a while. I love the round shapes and I think from what I see on other sites and facebook and a lot of your do.

When time permits I will post on how to convert an ordinary Mandala outline to a Celtic one.

This challenge is to decorate the outline below with doodles and colour.
