CELTIC CHALLENGE 30

Hi All, I have not issued a challenge in a month. I have not been well and neither has my husband whom I am career for. I will issue my Challenges and Swaps when time permits from now on as family needs are more important.

This challenge I am going back to simple design. In pencil I want you to draw a continuous string that loops around and weaves over and under itself. I will not be giving you an outline as this is very simple to do and many of you draw strings on a regular basis. You can copy my design, but I would prefer you to come up with one of your own. 

Once you have drawn your string, draw a second string parallel to the first. 

Once both strings are completed, go over them in pen, so that you can see the under and over weave. Rub out any excess pencil lines and decorate.

As an extra challenge, see if you can come up with a pattern for the outside edge of the design.

Hi all. I am sorry I have not posted for a while. I had not been too well and neither has my husband who I am carer for. So I have not had the time to organize Swaps or Celtic Challenges.

I have been asked by Anglicare who helps me with my husbands care, to come to a new group they have organised called the 'Cow Club'. Cow stands for Crafty Old Women. I think is a great name and typically Australian humor for those who are reading this and are not Australian.

They have asked me to introduce Creative Doodling to the group. I am going to start them doing their own ATC's and show them a few patterns they can use. I hope to take photos and post them with this swap.

Swap 1 produced some great results with some people putting in multiple ATC's. I got some great ideas from their work and I hope you all enjoyed what was produced. Thank you those who participated for inspiring me with your artwork.

So for your swap this time. I would like you to draw some circles, semi circles or straight lines through your card. You do not have to use all of these, any combination will do to come up with your basic pattern. Once you are happy with your outline, then decorate it. 

Below is a couple of cards I have done previously. I am not drawing outlines this time as these are very simple patterns to give you the idea. I would like to see you come up with some designs of your own. Shading and colouring is optional.

An Artist Trading Card is 2.5" x 3.5" or 64mm x 89mm.

I propose to set up the opportunity for people to email their finished work to me. I will post it onto my blog so that others can admire it, and copy it, if they wish. Do not send anything if you are not prepared for others to copy and paste to their computer to print out for themselves.

The Cow Club (Crafty Old Women) met for the first time today. I introduced them to Creative Doodling and our ATC Swap. Here is a picture of some of the ladies and their cards.

I think they did quite well for their very first attempt at Doodling ever.

Reposting my 12 Step Doodleaholics Program

I decided to repost this for those who need counseling and help.

Please read the following 12 steps if you need to recover from this addiction and practice each step daily. 

1. Do not cover all your walls with doodles. Leave some space for family photos.

2. Do not keep multiple projects going at the same time.

3. Do not buy pens, pencils, markers and sketch pads when you have lots at home.

4. Do not let your drawing area look like your can't stop to clean up.

5. Do not look at everything as if it is your next idea for a doodle.

6. Do not stock up on supplies just because they are on sale.

7. Do not let doodling distract you from fixing dinner, doing the washing and taking the kids to school etc.

8. Do not stay up doodling all night.

9. Do not keep every magazine and piece of junk mail for the patterns you could copy.

10. Do not relegate the kitchen table to doodling only. The family have to eat somewhere.

11. Do not save all packaging for the doodling ideas, you have to throw out some things as rubbish.

12. Do not promise you will quit tomorrow, it never comes.

This is a good check list if you are not sure you are a Doodleaholic. If you do do, 3 of the 12 items listed you are well on the way to becoming an addict.

I have decided to add a fortnightly ATC Online Swap on the alternate week to the Celtic Challenge.

I was involved in a ATC Swap recently and although I enjoyed getting everyones lovely artwork it cost me $45 to send out the ATC's to the people involved. Being on a pension, I cannot afford that on a regular basis, but would love to be involved in swapping.

The theme of this ATC Swap will be 'Radiating Lines'.

Draw lines radiating out from any point on the card you wish, and then decorate. You can do it in one or multiple colours.

You can use my outline and decorate it differently or come up with your own 'radiating line' design to send.
