Celtic Challenge 18

Celtic Challenge 18

SUPER EASY CELTIC WEAVE PATTERNS

This is a 4 week challenge. As this time of year is very busy for us all, but as some of us have holiday time I am going to offer a challenge that spans 4 weeks. The next challenge will not be issued until January 11th, 2013.

Here are my quick steps for drawing an easy celtic weave design.

STEP 1

Choose a stencil to draw your design. This is the stencil I used. As you can see it is all squares of different sizes.

STEP 2
When using a stencil draw in pencil the smaller shape outline first.

STEP 3
Position the larger shape over the smaller drawing, ensuring the smaller shape is in the centre, and then draw the outline of the larger shape.

STEP 4
Now draw other squares to overlap the first one until you are happy with your design. Make sure only two line overlap at any one point.

STEP 5
Rub out the sections where the lines overlap.

 STEP 6
Redraw the intersecting lines so that you now have a Celtic Weave.
You could do the same technique using a template of a shape in small and large. If you use a template then draw the larger shape first and put the smaller shape inside, centre it and draw the smaller shape.

I have drawn outlines using 4 different shapes.

Your challenge is to either decorate the outlines I have here, or come up with your own celtic weave designs.

As there are all sorts of shapes and 4 outlines above I hope that I will see more than one attempt posted from each person.
My aim is for you to enjoy the process. If you like decorating and not drawing then do that. If you like the challenge of drawing it your self first, then go ahead.

However I love to see the results. Please show me some intersting designs and decorations and some colour if you wish.

As you have 4 outlines above and instructions to draw your own Super Easy Celtic Weave, I am having a bit of a holiday until the new year. I will however be looking at the site to see what you have come up with, and commenting on each design posted, as usual. I may even post a couple of new letters and patterns.

This cold has really knocked me about and I need to take it easy for a while. Hope you all have a great Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

Celtic Challenge 17

Celtic Challenge 17

I have been a bit under the weather this week. Got a dose of the flu and have not stopped coughing all week. I managed to find my creativity this afternoon thank goodness. So your challenge is ready.

Last week we used one continuous line to create a celtic knot pattern. This week I challenge you to use two or more continuous lines that over lap and then weave a couple more lines throught the shapes you created. It can be a bit tricky to get the celtic weave so go carefully.

Below is my finished design. I can't help but use Christmas again as the theme.

First draw two or more shapes overlapping each other.

Then add two or more lines weaving through the shapes.

Next create your celtic weave. You can refer to my 'How to Design Celtic Knots' page for distructions for this step.

Your design in now ready for doodle patterns and colour if you wish.

I added some words to my design also. I think if would be a nice design for the front of a card.

The distructions for the patterns I used to decorate Celtic Challenge 17 are below:

Inspirational Blog Award

Alma at Casa del Alma was so very kind to have nominated me for the Inspiring Blog Award.

Honored and happily I shall now follow the following rules:

1. Display the award on your blog.
2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
3. State 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate up to 15 bloggers for the award and link to their blogs.
5. Notify them that they have been nominated and link to the post.

7 Things about me.

ONE
I studied art in high school and majored in art at teachers college.

TWO
I have worked in the craft and art industry for over 20 year. I was a craft rep, visiting craft shops every day. That was hard. I have managed an Embroidery Warehouse and Jewellery Supply Warehouse. I have worked in craft shops and also taught craft.

THREE
My mother and grandmother were good sewers and so I made my own cloths from the age of 13. They only helped if I got stuck. I bought my first dress when I was 23.

FOUR
I have 3 sisters and 1 brother.

FIVE
I have lived in Brisbane all my life, except for a two year break when my husband and I went to Pt Kembla, NSW.

SIX
I am at present doing a 2 year coarse on airbrushing. At the end of the coarse I will have a certificate 2 qualifications.

SEVEN
There are very few crafts I cannot do, because being in the industry, if you know it you can sell it. I am also addicted to anything new in craft, but once I have mastered it to my satisfaction, I am on to the next thing. Doodling seems to be one I am sticking with even when trying new thing. I love to combine crafts, and experiment with doing different things than what the product was originally meant for.
