Beenleigh Library Display

Beenleigh Library Display
I set up my first public display for Creative Doodling at my local library today. I hope I get a good response. The library had never heard of Creative Doodling or Zentangles or anything similar.

They were very interested and even got some books in for me to add to the display and also have something to loan people who are interested.

The pictures below show you the left, front and right side of the finished display cabinet.

On the top shelf the center picture frame, is an explanation of what creative doodling is. There is also framed pictures, some cards, canvas shoes, a ceramic cup and two heart shaped cardboard boxes that have some napkin art and doodling on them.

The second shelf shows pictures, cards and some display book covers that have been doodled.

The third shelf has basic instructions in the silver frame in the middle. To the right is a scrapbooking page and some of my Wiggly Alphabet. In the middle at he back is two T-Shirts that have creative doodling pictures painted on them.To the left are some Artists Trading Cards, a Card and some Creatively Doodled words.

The bottom shelf at the center front has information about my contact details for classes. There are 3 framed prints, two zentangle books from the library, two gift tags, two key chains and one necklace, and assorted doodles on A5 Watercolour Paper.

I also made some small signs to lay beside or on top of some of the items explaining what they were. Just to give people the ideas of the variety of crafts that could use the skill of creative doodling.

I showed this display for anyone who is thinking of doing classes and has the opportunity of displaying their work to advertise.

I hope this has been helpful.

One of the librarians at Beenleigh was so impressed with the display and with Creative Doodling that she suggested I contact other libraries as they may be interested in me displaying my work there also.

Canvas Shoes and Jewellery

Canvas Shoes and Jewellery

I am still getting items ready for the display on Thursday. Below are a pair of childs shoes. I went for bright colours as you can see. I added a bit more bling by putting some little beads on the laces.

I also did a necklace and two key chains.

I hope these pics I have been posting will inspire those who have not tried to doodle on something other than paper or card.

Scrapbook Page and Tags

Scrapbook Page and Tags

I am getting items ready for a display I will be putting on at the Beenleigh Library.

Creative Doodling is relatively unknown here in Queensland so I approached the local library. They have display cabinets in the library that local people can display things in for a month. I usually see all sorts of crafts and hobbies displayed there.

I was allowed to book the month of August and will be putting up the display on the 1st. I have been down to measure the size of the 4 shelves and have set out everything at home to ensure is will look good from any of the three glass sides.

I want to show that Creative Doodling can be used by many crafts people as a way to decorate, so have come up will a variety of things other than just drawings to be framed.

Today I worked on a Scrapbooking Page and some gift tags.

Here are the pics:

The page started as a blank white page.

The letters are from my Wiggly Alphabet. I have them scanned into the computer individually, so that I can make words and print them out any size. I mounted the words onto black card.

The decoration around the picture is a frame I designed a long time ago. I also have it in my computer so that I can print it out any size. I cut out the center and put the picture behind to show through and also mounted it on black card.

I placed the words and frame onto the white paper with double sided adhesive tape. The flowers were ones I picked up from a craft show and I put them on with colored round brads.

The leaves and stems I drew on, colored with watercolor pencils and them doodled over. I them added the flowers with brads to this little garden.

The pink tag below is a piece of pink card that I punched out with a heart shaped whole punch.

I them went around each heart as you can see with micron pen. I stuck the pink card to a slightly larger white card, and them to a slightly large black card to finish the pink, white and black theme.
I had a little heart on some paper that I cut out and placed at the top of the tag. I also doodled over that larger heart as well.
I also drew inside each heart on the white paper with black pen.

I used the heart shaped whole punch to go through all 3 pieces of card at the center top. I collected an assortment of matching ribbons and threaded them through the heart shaped whole.

The Christmas tag is a piece of white card stuck to some slightly larger dark green card. The green and red criss-cross lines where some left over pieces I had in my stash of trash paper & card. I stuck them to the white card and offset them so that the red was lower and to the left of the green, giving a shadowed effect.

I punched a whole at the top and put ribbon through and doodled inside each of the square shapes.

I will post more items as I make them.

Celtic Challenge 31

Celtic Challenge 31

I have a large challenge for you this time. I am going to give you a month to do it.

I have designed an intricate celtic design. It has 36 different segments. I am displaying it in the largest size I can to give you plenty of room to draw your patterns.

The reason for this is that intricate Celtic Designs are great to practice and store many doodle patterns that are useful for long narrow spaces.

This finished design can then be used to refer to when trying to think of what patterns you will use in other projects that have long narrow spaces to fill.

Here is the pattern I have for you this time.

Most of the 36 patterns are my own designs, some are variations and some I have never posted before. I did a couple of other peoples designs that I really like, as I am going to use this design to refer to.

The challenge is to put a different pattern in each section and shade your design to emphasize the over and under weave. Those who have not shaded before, the shading goes right where the rope is going under. The top section should not be shaded. Look closely at my finished design and you will get the idea.

Choose patterns that you like, that are perfect for long narrow spaces.

Here is my finished Celtic Challenge:

ATC Online Swap 3 - Floral Designs

ATC Online Swap 3
Floral Designs
Well you certainly sent some lovely ATC's for the last swap and quite a variety of designs. As there are some very beautiful winter flowers in my garden I have decided we will do a floral theme this time.

Here are some of my garden pics to get you in the mood.

My Mum was much more of a Gardner than me. Here are some of our home when I was a child. I loved our garden. Although these were definitely not taken in winter.

As you can see by this last photo our neighbor was a gardener also. The photo was taken from in front of our neighbors house looking toward our house.

The ATC's I have done are below.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
